I’m really loving these photos of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Especially considering she’d been through so much within the past month.

With collapsing, concussion and discovering a blood clot, having to testify at a hearing on the Bengazi investigation, and non-stop questions about her glasses and whether she’s going to run for President in 2016, it sure as hell is nice to see these photos.

No, this has nothing to do with her being a woman of a particular age. Well, it’s not solely about that. It’s the fact that, although she’s probably got most of the weight of the world on her shoulders and possibly a shit-ton of paperwork on her desk, she’s taking time out of her day to enjoy the little awesomes going on in the photos, having a laugh here and there, whipping her hair back and forth, having quite a good time.

It’s just really nice to see a powerful, capable, wonder of a human being having fun. Fun, that thing where you’re enjoying something — whatever it is — and that thing brings joy to you, a smile crawling across your face, bursting into laughter to the point of wheezing and your ribs hurting so good. With so many dark things happening (shootings, constant conflict in the Middle East, people quickly losing faith in Lindsay Lohan if they haven’t already, but that last one is a given, and so on), it’s great to have things like this to remind us that, no matter where we are in our individual lives, there’s a silver lining, and it’s up to us whether or not we’re gonna appreciate that silver lining for what it’s worth.

Hopefully you guys have your moment(s) of fun this 2013, no matter how big or small, because those are the moments, the “little awesomes” that’ll make your day (or week, month, year, or five minutes of your life)… fun.
